Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: My lessons

In French on Senewerb.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the undisputed leader of the Oklahoma City Thunder, continues to shine on the court and he is once again in MVP conversations. With an impressive average of 31.3 points per game (PPG), he has been pivotal to the Thunder’s success, and his influence both on and off the court keeps growing.

Currently, Oklahoma City is riding an impressive 15-game winning streak, with their most recent victory coming against the defending champions, the Boston Celtics.

Shai: “Basketball is Like Life: You Reap What You Sow”

In a recent interview with Valeria Rubino, the Canadian star shared some of the most valuable lessons he has learned throughout his career, along with the values he hopes to pass on to young fans around the world who see him as a role model. For Shai, basketball is a metaphor for life: “What you give to the game, the game will give back to you. You can’t cheat it. It’s just like life. If you want to become a doctor, teacher, dentist, or whatever you aspire to be, what you put into it determines what you get out of it. There are no shortcuts. You can’t fool the universe.”

This philosophy, rooted in hard work and authenticity, perfectly encapsulates Shai’s mindset. He firmly believes that success is built on perseverance and staying true to oneself: “Do things your way, and in the end, you won’t want to have any regrets or doubts. You’ll know that you gave it your all.”

Shoes: More Than Just Gear in the NBA

Beyond his remarkable on-court performance, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is also known for his unique style and growing influence in the fashion world. In 2025, he is set to launch his first signature basketball shoe with Converse. When asked about the project in a recent interview, the NBA All-Star remained tight-lipped while hinting at something exciting: “I’m not going to tease anything… But you’ll see very soon,” he said with a smile.

So far this season, Gilgeous-Alexander has worn the Converse All-Star BB model in player-exclusive colorways. Meanwhile, Converse has been steadily building momentum for the official launch of Shai’s debut shoe. Earlier this month, the iconic sportswear brand officially unveiled Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s personal logo, which will be featured on his future basketball shoes and apparel.

While details about the final design, pricing, and tech specs remain under wraps, fans can expect the launch in 2025. This milestone will mark a significant chapter in Shai’s career, further cementing his status as a rising star in both the NBA and the fashion industry.
