The superhero-style face mask may give Donte DiVincenzo a striking look, but he admits it’s far from cozy.
“Definitely uncomfortable,” he smiled. “But it is what it is. Protection, so it’s all good.

The Minnesota Timberwolves guard took a hard hit to the face during Saturday’s game against the Charlotte Hornetsand has been forced to wear the mask since the following Monday game against the Brooklyn Nets. His nose is still sore and a few facial marks are visible, but he continues to play with determination and resilience.

Pride and Relief: Embracing His Italian Identity

Born in Delaware and recently naturalized as an Italian citizen, DiVincenzo spoke with emotion about finally receiving his Italian passport.
“Pride and relief,” he said. “It was a long process. Many people dedicated countless hours to making it happen, and I’m very grateful to all of them.”

The Timberwolves guard emphasized his commitment to represent Italy for the long term, a goal that goes beyond basketball. For him, wearing the Azzurri jersey means honoring his roots and expressing gratitude to those who helped him along the way.

Looking Ahead: Identity and Consistency

After health issues kept him out of EuroBasket, DiVincenzo is focused on staying healthy and helping Minnesota strengthen its team chemistry.

“We have to find our identity as a team again,” he explained. “In this league, nothing is guaranteed. Every game matters.”
