ROCKEFELLER CENTER
A classic. This is the most popular Christmas tree in the United States, a national tradition since 1933.
This year, the 94-foot Norway spruce in Rockefeller Plaza is the second tallest in history. Decorated with over 50 thousand multicolored LEDs, it is topped with a huge star. The tree will remain on display until January 7th and then Habitat for Humanity will start using the spruce’s lumber to build new homes.
SOUTH STREET SEAPORT
An impressive 60-foot Norway spruce, with constellation-themed ornaments inspired to the sailor world, reminds people of the history of this area, that used to be New York’s busiest shipping hub.
Browse holiday objects and gifts in the indoor Hester Street Fair, with 32 independent vendors (open daily from 11A.M. to 8P.M. until December 24th).
AMERICAN MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY
A very original origami holiday tree with over 1000 handmade decorations created by artists from all over the world. This year’s theme is “Dinosaurs Among Us”.
MADISON SQUARE PARK
40-feet tall, the Norway spruce is right in front if the Taste of Home of Gingerbread, made of ginger bricks.
CITY HALL PARK
A nice holiday display in the park: the big fountain has been drained for the holidays and filled with winter plants. The atmosphere is made more nostalgic by the antique street lamps scattered around the park, that give you an old NYC feel.
BLOOMBERG TOWER
Always impressive the Christmas tree outside the very unique circular glass skyscraper at 731 Lexington Avenue, also called “Bloomberg Tower” as it houses the headquarters of Bloomberg L.P..
In the legal drama series “Suits”, this building is the location of law firm Pearson Specter.
BRYANT PARK
Another unmissable tree: in the beautiful scenery of Manhattan’d Bryant Park and the characteristic Winter Village
THE PLAZA HOTEL
New York’s iconic hotel celebrates this holiday season with a big Christmas tree, situated in the lobby and decorated in white and gold. Piled underneath the spruce, a mountain of gold and silver presents. (768 Fifth avenue).
LANGHAM PLACE
Inspired to the hotel’s signature color, this is an all-pink Christmas tree, decorated with 3500 preserved roses that will stay fresh without watering for at least 60 days. (400 Fifth avenue).
The lighting ceremonies for NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGE’s and WASHINGTON SQUARE PARK’s Christmas trees are respectively
a 93-year old and a 90-year old tradition, both older than the Rockefeller Center’s.
The NYSE tree is on Broad Street, while the spruce in Washington Square Park is situated under the Arch and its multi-colored lights are lit between 4P.M and 1A.M..
